Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21, 1983. Maggie Grace is an American Actress best known as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Her parents had divorced and she moved with her mom into Los Angeles. The actress landed her first part, as Rachel's Room's title character, in 2001 despite struggling financially. In 2002 she was nominated to receive a Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost TV show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal protagonist for two seasons and was awarded an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace decided to leave the show to pursue a professional film work. She had starred alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. The following year, she was in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well as, alongside Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of role. Grace played Shannon again in Lost's final episode and two other episodes. She also was a guest in the sixth episode of Californication. She plays Faith she is an admirer and muse to the actors. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. She's the daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), as well as younger that Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager She appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also was co-starring with her sister in Donnie Darko which is a famous cult film. Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for both her performances as the main character in Secretary (2002), the erotic drama about romance and Sherrybaby (2006). She was also nominated by the Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely in the role of Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). In the wake of her performance that was a hit as a mother who is not married in Crazy Heart (2009), she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (2012). Her other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent for Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a singer for Secret Service in White House Down 2013, singing in Frank 2014 and also the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she portrays the lead role. The debut of Gyllenhaal as a director and writer was in 2021 with The Lost Daughter, a psychological thriller for which she received the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. In addition, she received the Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
