Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. After moving to Oxfordshire when she was five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma chose to become an actor by the age of six. In the past, she attended the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing as well as dancing, and also acting. Her performances had been in a variety of Stagecoach or school shows before she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel premiered for the first occasion in the year 1999. Agents for casting found Emma from her Oxford Theatre teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditioning for eight times. They were selected as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. The movie broke all records with regards to opening day and weekend numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film was well-received by critics, as were the performances of its three young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performance "amazing". Emma's performance received nominations and received five awards in the film.
